Advancing personalised medicine in Denmark

Biopeople’s focus on biomarkers and personalised medicine is based on the increasingly importance of a molecular understanding of diseases and the role of biomarkers as diagnostics. The project ’Biomarkers – an emerging growth area’, a collaboration between Biopeople and the innovation networks InfinIT, Brandbase and the GTS institution Bioneer A/S, which closed in 2018, published a white paper about infra structures in the Danish biomarker community.
Following that project, Biopeople established a working group in personalised medicine with participation of the Danish Medicines Agency, Rigshospitalet, Danish universities and several Danish companies.
Working Group objective

The project ’Biomarkers – an emerging growth area’, a collaboration between Biopeople and the innovation networks InfinIT, Brandbase and the GTS institution Bioneer A/S, which closed in 2018, published a white paper about infra structures in the Danish biomarker community.
Following that project, Biopeople established a working group in personalised medicine with participation of the Danish Medicines Agency, Rigshospitalet, Danish universities and several Danish companies. The objective of the working group is to
- Strengthen the national network of players in the biomarkers and personalised medicines field
- Communicate and disseminate information about legislation and legal requirements regarding personalised medicine
- Catalyse and facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing between public and private partners nationally and internationally
- Support patient advocacy and involvement in the development of personalised medicine
The working group hosted in September 2019 a dialogue meeting regarding the new EU regulation (2017/746/EU) for in vitro diagnostic. Another event in the spring of 2020 will focus on the development of biomarkers and diagnostics. At the meeting companies, hospitals, patient organisations and universities will share knowledge, establish new relationships and develop the field.
