Biopeople facilitates hackathons at Tech BBQ

Biopeople facilitates hackathons at Tech BBQ

Solving the problems of the waiting room. Biopeople in collaboration with SUND Hub of University of Copenhagen facilitates three mini one-hour hackathons at Tech BBQ.

At the busy Tech BBQ summit for startups in Øksnehallen 24-25 September, one of the options for sitting down was a in a 1:1 recreation of a classic hospital waiting room – with 80’s style bent beechwood chairs, copies of old magazine and healthcare leaflets.

But today people weren’t bored (or upset by untreated injuries). Instead they engaged in spurting out ideas, taking part in one of the three hackathons, Biopeople helped facilitate together with UCPH's SUND Hub.

Track: Biomarkers – the key to personalized health
This year the two innovation networks Med Tech Innovation and Biopeople have co-organized the track “Biomarkers – the key to personalized health” to be held on 10 October at 14.05-16.05.

Traditionally, biomarkers are often associated with a genetic profile only, but many different biological signals can be used as biomarkers. At this track you will be introduced to examples of different biomarkers and the new technologies used to measure them, and it will be discussed why biomarkers are necessary for personalised healthcare.

Program for the track

Introduction: “Biomarker validation is also a digital challenge”, Peter Olesen, CEO, ActiFoods ApS
Tech Talk: “From data to biomarkers using machine learning within functional neuroimaging”, Morten Mørup, Associate Professor, DTU Compute
Business Talk: “Molecular Biomarkers – a key to personalized medicine”, Tomasz K. Wojdacz, CEO, MethylDetect
Business Talk: “Biomarker Discovery with Morphological Context - introduction to NanoString technology including Digital Spatial Profiling (DSP) – a novel platform developed by NanoString.”, Lene Berlick, Senior Regional Account Manager Nordics, NanoString Technologies, Inc.
Summing up: “What did we learn?”, Peter Olesen, CEO, ActiFoods ApS
