Biopeople welcomes visit from Japan

Delegation from the Mitsubishi Research Institute discusses future collaboration on small companies.

Ms. Anna Araki and Ms. Yui Dazai of the Japanese Mitsubishi Research Institute visited Biopeople on 5 November 2018. The delegation was from the Medical Venture/Total Support Service sponsored by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Medical Innovation Support Office.

“We had a productive exchange on the policy measures for medical startups and how to develop the policies further. Japan has a number of medical startups, spinouts from both universities and companies, and many could benefit from collaborations with Danish companies and research groups”, states director Per Spindler, Biopeople.

In discussions, it was discovered that many of the challenges facing small companies in scale-up and their processes of getting medical products to the market are similar. Collaborative activities, such as sharing best practice and networking between companies and researchers were defined as a fruitful way forward.
